Launch > Mapping Fo Guang Shan

The Institute for the Study of Humanistic Buddhism (ISHB) at University of the West is pleased to launch its set of Fo Guang Shan (FGS) interactive maps. These ArcGIS maps provide an up-to-date, comprehensive resource for researchers interested in the study of FGS as a global Buddhist movement. Through these maps, one can view the full range of FGS temples and affiliated organizations, track the development and spread of the institution, and get a glimpse into the origin stories of particular temples.

At the launch, we will introduce these resources, discuss our methodology for developing the maps; and also demonstrate how these maps can be used in conjunction with other map layers to create a robust tool that can be tailored to a researcher’s needs and interests.
